MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004730 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 23, 2024, for 'automated wheel rim repairing device.'

Inventor(s) include Shubham Negi.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wheel rim repairing device, comprises of a platform 1 configured with multiple rods 2 placed on a ground surface, an imaging unit 4 to detect height of a user present in proximity, a telescopic column 5 to extend as per the detected user's height to allow the user to position a wheel rim for repairing, a weight sensor to detect placement of rim on the disc 6, a high torque DC (Direct Current) electric motor connected with the motor to allow rotation of rim over disc 6, an optical sensor to detect presence of bends on rim, a robotic link 8 to positon series of rollers 9 over edges of the rim, a laser sensor to detect thickness of the edges and multiple pneumatic pistons 10 arranged in between rollers 9 to extend/retract to compress the edges between the rollers 9 to maintain the rim."
