MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531019181 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on March 4, for 'automated wheel rim protection device for four wheelers.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Dhirendra Nath Thatoi.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wheel rim protection device for four wheelers, comprises of hollow ring shaped body 101 constructed with multiple C-shaped plates 102, and a circular frame 103, designed to fit around a wheel rim of a four-wheeler, a drawer arrangement for adjusting dimensions of the body 101 with respect to the rim's outer periphery, multiple touch sensors for detecting the placement of body 101 over the rim's outer periphery, an impact sensor for detecting any shocks experienced by the wheels while moving on a ground surface, an imaging unit 106 to determine condition of the surface, and a flap 107 housed within each of the plate, by means of multiple telescopically operated links 108 to extend/retract for deploying the flaps 106 towards center of the rim, in view of covering entire rim portion, for protecting the wheel's rim from any accidental damage."
