MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006613 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 31, 2024, for 'automated wheel maintenance device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Deepika Sharma; Dr. Shweta Lamba; and Mandeep Kaur.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wheel maintenance device comprises of a platform 1 installed on a ground surface and is accessed by a user for accommodating a wheel which is to be maintained, an imaging unit 2 for determining dimensions of accommodated wheel, multiple motorized clamping units 3 for properly accommodating wheel on platform 1, a pair of robotic arms 4 for gripping a wrench or plier from a multi-sectioned chamber 5, a grinding blade 6 for trimming deteriorated teeth to initiate maintenance of sprocket, a telescopically operated L-shaped link 7 for positioning a tactile sensor in contact with coupling, an ultrasonic sensor for monitoring successful removal of coupling from wheel upon which the microcontroller actuates arms 4 to grip another coupling from chamber 5 and assembling coupling on wheels in order to maintain wheel."
