MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088289 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'automated water re-filling system for bottles.'

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated water re-filling system for bottles, comprising plurality of bottles placed on shelves of a refrigerator 1, a capacitive level sensor embedded in each bottles for detecting level of water in bottles, a camera 2 mounted in each shelves for detecting presence of cap on bottle(s), a robotic arm 3 for opening cap to uncover mouth portion of bottle(s), if cap is detected not to be present on mouth portion then plurality of pneumatic plates 4 installed within each of shelves that are initially stored in an extended state, retracts for covering mouth portion of bottles, plurality of electronic valves 5 installed over each shelves and connected with a water chamber 6 attached with the refrigerator 1, wherein the microcontroller actuates specific valves 5 to open for dispensing pre-set amount of the water to re-fill the bottle(s)."
