According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated domestic waste segregation system for effective urban solid waste management is the subject of the invention. The device uses a combination of infrared, metal and moisture sensors to automatically categorize household waste. A microcontroller processes the sensed data and activates a diverter mechanism to segregate waste into recyclable, hazardous, biodegradable and non-biodegradable containers. The innovation encourages sustainable waste management techniques in urban residential environments, minimizes human labour, and increases segregation accuracy."
