MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010116 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 14, 2024, for 'automated utility hole drilling device.'

Inventor(s) include Rajendra P. Pandey; and Shri Bhagwan.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated utility hole drilling device, comprising a platform 1 positioned on a ground surface, a camera 2 mounted on platform 1 for capturing images of surrounding of platform 1, a touch enabled screen mounted on platform 1 for allowing user to select location at which user wants to drill utility hole, multiple wheels 4 configured beneath platform 1 for moving and positioning platform 1 at user-selected location, a holographic projector 5 for projecting virtual-image of user-entered dimension of utility hole on user-selected location, an ultrasonic sensor for detecting surface condition of ground surface, a rotatable disc 7 configured with blades 8 arranged over platform 1 for supporting arrangement 9, an extendable pulley arrangement 11 integrated with rotatable disc 7 to expand/contract in accordance with user-entered dimension and a conical drill bit 12 attached with disc 7 for excavating cut-portion for facilitating drilling of user-desired dimension of utility hole."
