MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124122 A) filed by Sona College Of Technology, Salem, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'automated two-wheeler rider safety enforcement system using sensor integration.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. D. Senthilkumar; Ms. Lathika R; Ms. Varunapriya G; and Ms. Meenaloshini A.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an automated two-wheeler rider safety enforcement system integrating helmet detection, alcohol sensing, and rider authorization in a single hardware-controlled system. The system comprises an ultrasonic sensor (102) mounted on the helmet (110) for detecting helmet usage, an MQ-135 alcohol sensor (103) for measuring alcohol concentration in the rider's breath, and an RFID reader (104) for authenticating authorized riders. All sensor outputs are transmitted to a sensor-integration and ignition-actuation module (101) which processes real-time inputs, evaluates compliance with predetermined safety thresholds, and controls an ignition relay (105) to enable or disable vehicle ignition accordingly. Indicator units (108) provide real-time alerts regarding non-compliance. The system is housed within a tamper-resistant enclosure (109) to prevent unauthorized access or bypassing. This invention provides a reliable, hardware-based mechanism that enforces safe riding practices, prevents unauthorized or intoxicated operation, and enhances road safety for two-wheeler users."
