MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006605 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 31, 2024, for 'automated tree cutting device.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Manish Kumar; Dr. Shubpreet Kaur; Megha Sharma; Dr. Sachin Mohal; Rohit Singh; and Piyush Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated tree cutting device, comprises of a housing 1 positioned over a ground surface via multiple wheels 2, a thermal imaging unit 4 to determine the healthy and dried trees in surroundings, a display panel 5 to display thermal images of said trees to enable the user to select one of the dried tree to be cut, a motorized wood cutting blade 6 to cut the tree, an motorized sliding unit 7 installed between the blade 6 and housing 1 to provide translation to blade 6 over for appropriately cutting the user-specified tree, a hydraulic pole 8 positioning of a wedge shaped block 9 within a slit created for cutting the tree, a moisture sensor to detect moisture in tree, an air blower 10 to dry-off the tree, an ultrasonic sensor to detect presence of person in the surrounding and a speaker to notify the person to deter away."
