MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023985 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 26, 2024, for 'automated toothpick dispensing device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated toothpick dispensing device, comprises of a housing 1 positioned over a fixed surface and crafted with a chamber 2, a motorized drawer arrangement for providing translation to the chamber 2 as per requirement, a touch interactive display panel 3 to provide input regrading requirement of a tooth pick, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 to determine positioning of the toothpicks in the chamber 2, a robotic gripper 5 to grip one of the toothpick and position over a platform 6 arranged in the housing 1, a laser sensor synced with the imaging unit 4 to determine presence of uneven surface over the positioned toothpick, a robotic arm 8 by means of a roller 7 to provide translation to the roller 7 over the positioned toothpick, and an abrasive sheet layered over the arm 8 that aids the roller 7 in removing the detected uneven surface."
