MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026060 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'automated tire-cutting device for recycling purposes.'

Inventor(s) include Jasgurpreet Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated tire-cutting device for recycling purposes that is comprises of, a platform 1 developed to be positioned on a fixed surface, multiple suction cups 2 are to adhere to the surface, an imaging unit 5 to determine position of the accommodated tire, a robotic arm 4 to acquire a grip of the tire from the chamber 3, a circular disc 8 by means of an inverted L-shaped rod 7 to position the gripped tire on the disc 8, a LiDAR sensor for determining dimensions of the tire, a motorized pulley arrangement 10 to expand/contract for increasing/decreasing dimensions of the disc 8, multiple suction cups 9 to adhere to inner periphery of the tire for properly securing the tire on the disc 8, and a pair of motorized cutter 11 by means of a hydraulic actuator 12 for cutting sidewalls of the tire."
