MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006909 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 1, 2024, for 'automated tiles cutting device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur; Parneet Kaur; Amanpreet Kaur Mander; Sunaina; Shriya Dogra; and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated tiles cutting device, comprises a platform 1 developed to be positioned on a ground surface, a touch enabled screen 2 enables the user to input the details, a camera 3 for capturing multiple images, a pair of extendable plates 4 configured via a pair of motorized sliders 5 for gripping the tiles, a pressure sensor for monitoring the pressure applied by the plates 4, a pair of elongated members 8 constructed from multiple rectangular extendable units 9 suspended from the cuboidal body 6, a pair of hydraulic rods 10 for extending/retracting the members, multiple motorized hinges 11 for tilting the units 9, a set of electromagnets 12 for joining the ends of the members, multiple blades 13 for cutting the stack of tiles in the user-selected shape, and a speaker 14 to notify the user."
