MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020758 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 19, 2024, for 'automated thrust bearing maintenance device.'
Inventor(s) include Shambhu Bharadwaj.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated thrust bearing maintenance device, comprising a platform 1 to be placed on a fixed surface, a rotatable disc 2 for accommodating a thrust bearing, an imaging unit 3 to monitor position of the bearing on the platform 1, a L-shaped bar 4 for positioning a circular member over the bearing, a motorized clamping units 5 to acquire a grip over shaft washer of the bearing, a robotic arms 6 integrated with a brush to perform cleaning of balls and cage of bearing, a friction sensor for monitoring friction offered by balls, a motorized gripper to grip and pull-out the ball from the bearing and replace by an unused ball, a multi-sectioned container 7 for storing tools and spare parts, an extendable L-shaped pipe integrated with an electronically controlled nozzle 8 to dispense a lubricating agent on the bearing."
