MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020028 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 18, 2024, for 'automated thread cutting device.'

Inventor(s) include Jasvir Singh Rana; Dhruv Joshi; Naveen; and Vandana Kanyal.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated thread cutting device, comprises of cylindrical body 1 developed to be positioned by a user on mouth portion of pipe, plurality of suction cups 2 are arranged on brim portion of the body 1 for affixing the mouth portion, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 3 determines diameter of the mouth portion of pipe, a touch interactive display panel 4 mapped on the body 1 accessed by a user to input commands regarding depth and number of threads that the user desires to fabricate on pipe, plurality of pneumatic pins 5 arranged at inner periphery of the body 1 for extending to position multiple cutters 7 arranged on the pins 5 to fabricate threads on the pipe and an adhesive tape accessed by a robotic gripper 6 to adhere tape on the threads for covering the threads."
