MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022916 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 23, 2024, for 'automated thermite welding device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated thermite welding device comprises of a body 1 positioned on a ground surface, multiple motorized omnidirectional wheels 2 is for moving body 1 on surface, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 for capturing multiple images in vicinity of body 1, an IR (infrared) sensor for monitoring presence of crack/cavity on the component, a robotic arm 4 to grab a portion of metallic chunks stored in a chamber 5, a heating unit in order to form a molten metallic material, a pair of flaps 7 each by means of an extendable link for positioning flaps 7 over ends of crack/cavity to form a mold, a non-contact moisture sensor for monitoring moisture level of filled material, a laser measurement sensor for monitoring measurement of solidified structure, a grinding to trim extra portion of the structure protruding out from cavity/crack in order to shape structure as per crack/cavity."
