MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020095 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 18, 2024, for 'automated syringe barrel grinding device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated syringe barrel grinding device comprising of, a housing 1 installed on a ground surface, a hopper 2 for accommodating used syringes, a first chamber 3 for receiving accommodated syringes, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 for capturing multiple images, an inductive capacitance sensor for detecting needles, a pair of robotic arms 5 for separating needle and barrel of syringe, a waste container 6 for facilitating storage of separated needle of syringe, a UV (Ultraviolet) lamp 7 to eliminate any germs/ pathogens deposited on barrel, a second chamber 8 assembled with first chamber 3 for receiving barrels, a motorized churner 9 for churning the barrels, plurality of motorized crushers 11 for crushing barrels, a tactile sensor to detect hardness of barrels, a heating unit to produce heat, powdered barrels for packaging, an optical sensor to detect liquid inside barrels, robotic arms 5 to dispense liquid into a receptacle."
