MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411005867 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 29, 2024, for 'automated surface gap detection device.'
Inventor(s) include Sonia; Neha Gupta; Richa Mehta; and Pardeep Kumar Jindal.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated surface gap detection device comprising a platform 1 positioned on a ground surface inside an enclosure, multiple wheels 4 are arranged underneath the platform 1 to move the platform 1 on the surface, an AI based imaging unit 2 installed on the platform 1 for capturing images of inner surroundings of enclosure, a touch interactive display panel 3 mapped on the platform 1 for displaying the mapping, a column 5 assembled on the platform 1 for extending/retracting to position a robotic link 6 in proximity to the user specified portion, a laser sensor detecting the presence of any crack on the user specified portion, a motorized sliding unit 8 providing movement to the pins 7 away from each other, an ultrasonic sensor installed on the pins 7 for detecting distance between the pins 7 and an alarming unit 9 for notifying the user regarding the detected gases."
