MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050274 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 20, for 'automated sunshade system for vehicle windows.'
Inventor(s) include Kabilan K; Leninc; Sandosh S; S Sankar Raja; Vignesh Karthikeyan; Srinivasa Narayanan A; and Joel Gibi.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to an automated sunshade system (100) for a vehicle window. The system (100) includes motorized retractable sunshade assembly (102) mountable adjacent to vehicle window, sensing unit (104) including light sensor (104-1), temperature sensor (104-2), and precipitation sensor (104-3), control unit (106) electrically coupled to sensing unit (104) and motorized retractable sunshade assembly (102), and memory unit (108) storing executable instructions and operational parameters. During operation, control unit (106) receives sensed environmental parameters from sensing unit (104) and compares sensed environmental parameters predetermined operational parameters stored in memory unit (108). Based on comparison, control unit (106) selectively deploys, retracts, or partially deploys motorized retractable sunshade assembly (102) to regulate light ingress and thermal conditions within a vehicle cabin. The automated sunshade system (100) enables autonomous, adaptive sunshade operation without requiring continuous manual intervention, thereby enhancing passenger comfort, visibility, and energy efficiency under varying environmental conditions."
