According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated sugarcane seed extraction and sorting system, comprises of a housing 101 with an inlet 102 for receiving a sugarcane stalk, an inspection module to assess property of the sugarcane stalk at dimensions and moisture content of the sugarcane stalk, a positioning module to grip and move the sugarcane stalk, a cutting module 108 to extract a seed bud from the sugarcane stalk, a sorting module to categorize the extracted seed bud based on assessed property, an imaging unit 103 to perform a topographic scan to identify a location of the seed bud, a circular slider 105 to align the seed bud with the cutting module 108, and a sorter conveyer 109 to direct the seed bud into one of at least two separate storage sections 110 based on the measured moisture content."
