MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411019657 A) filed by Sanskriti University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on March 16, 2024, for 'automated straw cleaning device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated straw cleaning device, comprises a housing 1 crafted with an opening 2 for inserting a straw, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 for capturing multiple images and detecting the dimensions of the straw, an inductive proximity sensor 4 for determining the material of the straw, different kind of cleaning solutions are stored in a multi-sectioned chamber 5, a motorized stirrer 7 assembled in the cylindrical member 6 for rotating and mixing the solution and water, a motorized clamping unit 8 for gripping the straw and placing it underneath an electronically operated valve 9 for dispensing the solution, a disc 10 integrated on a robotic arm 11 for inserting the disc within the straw for ensuring smooth translation of the solution in the straw, a vessel 12 for collecting the translation solution, and an extendable motorized brush 13 for cleaning the straw."
