According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The modernization of public transportation systems requires the integration of intelligent automation, digital payment technologies, and real-time monitoring mechanisms to enhance efficiency and revenue transparency. This project proposes a Smart Bus Ticketing System designed specifically for conductor-free, one-to-one long-route buses. The system integrates QR-based digital payments and prepaid smart card technology to enable seamless, cashless ticketing. Passengers with smartphones can scan a QR code displayed inside the bus and complete payment using platforms such as Google Pay, while passengers without smartphones can utilize RFID-based prepaid smart cards for automatic fare deduction. The system incorporates an automated fare calculation engine that determines ticket cost based on boarding and destination stops, ensuring accuracy and eliminating manual errors. To address fare evasion and revenue leakage, the proposed system employs passenger entry and exit sensors that continuously monitor real-time occupancy inside the bus. At each stop, the system compares the total passenger count with the number of valid paid tickets stored in the database. In cases of discrepancy indicating ticket-less travel, an automated enforcement mechanism is activated, triggering an audible alert and temporarily restricting door operation until payment is completed. This integrated approach combines digital payments, sensor-based monitoring, and automated control systems to create a secure, transparent, and fully automatic ticketing framework. By reducing dependence on manual conductors, minimizing operational costs, and enhancing accountability, the Smart Bus Ticketing System presents a scalable and future-ready solution aligned with smart city transportation initiatives."
