MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611002316 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Jan. 8, for 'automated slider-crank plunger: a robust mechanism for drain unclogging.'
Inventor(s) include Minesh Vohra; Sachin Kumar; and Anil Sah.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an automated plunger system (100) for efficient and universal drain unclogging. The system comprises a rubber cup (114) mounted on a slider (110) housed in a cylinder (112), connected to a crank (106) and connecting rod (108) assembly driven by an electric motor (102) on a motor mounting assembly (104). Oscillatory motion of the rubber cup (114) generates hydraulic pulses to remove blockages including hair, grease, fat, and solid debris. Supporting rods (116) and square plates (118) ensure stability. The modular system (100) is adaptable to circular, square, and rectangular pipes, minimizes human labor, and can be scaled for domestic, commercial, or industrial applications. Future adaptations include sensor integration and IoT-based remote control."
