MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511122601 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'automated side stand system for two-wheelers.'

Inventor(s) include Vinayak Nayyar; and Ankit Mahajan.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an automated side stand system for two-wheeled vehicles designed to enhance safety and convenience by eliminating manual operation of the side stand. The system comprises an actuator, a microcontroller-based control unit, a throttle position sensor, an ignition sensor, a mechanical linkage, and a position sensor. The control unit automatically retracts the side stand when the throttle position sensor detects acceleration above a predefined threshold, preventing the rider from unintentionally moving with the stand extended. The system automatically deploys the stand when the ignition is turned off, ensuring stable parking without requiring manual effort. Safety features, including actuator time-out control, low-voltage monitoring, and position feedback, enable reliable and fail-safe operation. The invention provides an intelligent, active corrective mechanism that surpasses passive interlocks used in prior art, offering a seamless, hands-free, and highly reliable side stand control solution suitable for motorcycles, scooters, and electric two-wheelers."
