MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024921 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'automated rivet prong installation device.'
Inventor(s) include Anjali Verma.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated rivet prong installation device, comprising a housing 1 equipped with plurality of omnidirectional wheels 2 positioned over a surface layered with a plastic sheet that is to be attached, an imaging unit 3 installed over the housing 1 to evaluate 3-Dimensional mapping of the sheet, a display panel 4 installed over the housing 1 to receive user's input, an inverted L-shaped telescopic rod 5 installed over the housing 1 to position a hammer 6 configured with the rod 5 over the projected markings in a sequential manner, a robotic gripper 8 installed over the housing 1 to withdraw and align a rivet prong from a chamber 7 over the projected marking, a spring 9 installed between the hammer 6 and rod 5 for punching the rivet prong over the sheet for installing the sheet with the user-selected area."
