MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023101 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 24, 2024, for 'automated rivet installation device for metallic sheets.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated rivet installation device for metallic sheets, comprising a platform 1 positioned on a ground surface and configured with multiple rods 2 that provides support to the platform 1 on the surface, a suction cup 3 affixes with the surface, a slot 4 for accommodating a pair of parallelly oriented metallic sheets pre-carved with plurality of holes, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 5 detects dimensions and exact location of holes on the sheets, a robotic gripper grips rivet from a chamber 6 and position the rivet within the hole of metallic sheets, a L-shaped telescopic bar 7 with a rotatory arrangement 8 configured with multiple dies positions particular die, a hydraulically operated plunger 9 provides thumping movement over the rivet in view of affixing and the rivet with the sheet, thereby effectively joining the sheets with each other."
