MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411018177 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 13, 2024, for 'automated rim separation and crushing device for recycling.'
Inventor(s) include Ramesh Chandra Tripathi.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated rim separation and crushing device for recycling, comprises of a platform 1 installed on a ground surface positioned with a wheel, a touch enabled screen 3 accessed by a user to provide input for crushing rim from wheel, a camera 4 to detect presence of threads on tyre, a telescopically operated gripper 5 to position the wheel on a circular disc 6, an ultrasonic sensor to detect diameter of the wheel, a pair of motorized clamps 7 to separate tyre from the rim, a robotic arm 2 to place the tyre within a chamber arranged on the platform 1 and an L-shaped telescopically operated bar 11 arranged with a triangular-shaped unit 12 to press rim against the member 10 in order to crush rim for allowing recycling of the rim."
