MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006930 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 1, 2024, for 'automated rim repairing device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Gagan Jindal; Dr. Manish Kumar; Anupam Bonkra; Dr. Sachin Mohal; Rohit Singh; and Piyush Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated rim repairing device, comprises of a platform 1 developed to be positioned on a ground surface, plurality of telescopically operated rods 2 for supporting the platform 1 at a height on the ground surface, a rotatable circular plate 3 over which the rim is positioned, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 for capturing multiple images of the platform 1, plurality of motorized clippers 5 to grip the rim, a motorized circular sliding unit 6 for accommodating the rim, a pair of flaps 7 integrated on the telescopically operated bar 8 for positioning the pair of flaps 7 within the inner periphery of the rim, and a hammering unit 9 for providing thumping movement on the rim, a hydraulically operated L-shaped bar 10 for positioning the hammering unit 9, and a speaker 11 produce audio notification for the user to disengage the rim."
