MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026168 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 29, 2024, for 'automated railway track sleeper removal device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated railway track sleeper removal device comprises of a body 1 positioned in proximity to a railway track, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 arranged on the body 1 to evaluates a 3D (three-dimension) mapping of the surroundings, a touch interactive display panel 3 mapped on the body 1 to select a portion regarding removing sleepers of the track, a L-shaped telescopic link attached with the body 1 for positioning multiple hydraulically operated rods arranged on apex of the bar in proximity to sleepers of the railway track, for removing of the sleepers, an extendable C-shaped clamp arranged on the bar to provide to-and-fro motion to the clamp, a pair of robotic arms 4 arranged on the body 1 for positioning a motorized shovel 5 to remove ballast present in proximity to the sleeper."
