MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020032 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 18, 2024, for 'automated railway track maintenance device.'
Inventor(s) include Tarun Kr. Sharma; R. P. Agarwal; Sumika Jain; and Vinod Kr. Rathi.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated railway track maintenance device comprising a body 1 developed to be positioned on a railway track, motorized wheels 2 for moving the body 1 along the track, an imaging unit 3 for capturing multiple surrounding images to determine dimension, structure of railway tracks and defect over track, multiple clamping units 4 for holding portions of a creep on track, a hydraulically operated rod 5 integrated in between body 1 and each of clamping units 4 to extend/retract for applying force onto track to align creep with track, a robotic arm 6 to grab and remove a damaged rivet joint from track, a chamber 7 arranged for storing new rivet joints, and a tension sensor integrated on wheel for monitoring tension experienced by track due to weight of body 1."
