MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025980 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'automated pottery shaping device.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated pottery shaping device, comprising a housing 1 positioned over a fixed surface by means of plurality of suction cups 2 arranged beneath the platform, opening 3 is crafted over the housing 1 to insert a flattened piece of wet clay, touch interactive display panel 4 enable user to provide input regarding a height and shape of a pottery in which clay is to be molded, artificial intelligence based imaging unit 5 for capturing images of the clay to determine dimensions of the clay, soft robotic grippers 6 in view of making a cylindrical shape of the clay, a primary robotic arm 8 to cut apex portion of cylindrical shaped clay via a motorized cutter 7, robotic links 9 position a flap 11 in contact with the cylindrical shaped clay and motorized hinge joints 10 are to regulate shape of the flap 11."
