MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023474 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 25, 2024, for 'automated plastic tape holding device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated plastic tape holding device, comprising a spherical-shaped body 1 developed to be accessed by a user to place a plastic tape inside the body 1, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 installed on the body 1 to detect dimensions of the tape, a pair of robotic grippers 3 arranged within the body 1 for griping free ends of the tape and position the free-ends in proximity in an outlet configured on the body 1, a microphone 4 configured on the body 1 for receiving voice commands of the user, a motorized horizontal cutter 5 installed on the body 1 for making a cut on the tape and a speaker 6 mounted on the body 1 for notifying the user to access the tape for utilizing the tape in multiple activities."
