MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020099 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 18, 2024, for 'automated pipe maintenance device.'

Inventor(s) include Vikram Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated pipe maintenance device comprises of, a platform 1 arranged over a fixed surface, multiple suction units 2 to affix the platform 1 with the surface, a pair of extendable C-shaped members 12 by means of a link 10 to position a pair in the members 12, an imaging unit to determine diameter of the pipe, a motorized drawer arrangement to provide extension to the members 12, a tactile sensor to determine hardness of the pipe, a touch interactive display panel to provide input regrading requirement of removal of an pipe elbow from one end of the pipe, a primary robotic arm 7 to position a motorized master wrench over the elbow for detaching the pipe elbow, and an hydraulic hammer 6 to extend and retract in a reciprocatory manner for hitting the joint with a pre-defined pressure in order to loosen grip of the pipe and pipe elbow."
