MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441012948 A) filed by JAIN, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'automated pipe connecting device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated pipe connecting device comprises of a platform 1 installed over a fixed surface and positioned between two pipes to be connected, an inverted U-shaped frame 2 assembled with a pair of extendable links 3 that provide translation to two motorized extendable clamps 4 each configured with links 3 as per requirement, an imaging unit 5 determines dimensions of pipes, an ultrasonic sensor to monitor distance of pipes from frame 2 in accordance to which microcontroller directs extension of links 3 to position clamps 4 over pipes, a primary motorized ball and socket joint 6 to provide movement to links 3 in order to position clamps 4 in contact with pipes, an robotic arm 8 position a C-shaped member 9 over coupling and a heating element 10 to produce heat that aids in adhering coupling with pipes."
