MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025448 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 28, 2024, for 'automated pipe collaring device.'

Inventor(s) include Arabinda Meher.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated pipe collaring device comprises a platform 1 configured with a U-shaped member 3 accessed by a user to manually position a hollow pipe over the member 3, a touch interactive display panel 4 for user input, an ultrasonic sensor detects thickness of the pipe, plurality of motorized hinge joint integrated within the member 3 for closing the member 3, a telescopically operated pusher 5 configured on the platform 1 for inserting a cylindrical rod within the pipe, plurality of heating units produce an optimum amount of heat, a DC (Direct Current) motor for rotating the rod, an inverted U-shaped cutter 8 attached with each of plurality of telescopically operated bars 6 in contact with the pipe, a touch sensor installed on the cutter 8 for detecting placement of the cutter 8 on the pipe, and a touch sensor detects placement of the cutter 8 on the pipe."
