MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012466 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'automated pipe bending device.'

Inventor(s) include Gurpreet Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated pipe bending device, comprises of a T-shaped frame 1 accessed by user for positioning a pipe over first portion 2 of frame 1, a handle 4 for enabling user to hold frame 1, an imaging unit 5 for determining dimensions of pipe, a pair of pneumatic blocks 6 for accommodating pipe over first portion 2, a display panel 7 for enabling user to input details, a motorized sliding unit 8 for positioning blocks 6 in a manner to initiate bending operation, a tactile sensor for detecting hardness of pipe based on which the microcontroller evaluates an optimal range of force that is to be required while bending pipe, a hydraulic piston 9 for applying a necessary force to pipe in order to bend pipe, a sensing module for detecting force applied by piston 9 over pipe along with tension generated within pipe while bending operation."
