MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026630 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 30, 2024, for 'automated packaging assistive device for grocery stores.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated packaging assistive device for grocery stores, comprising a body 1 positioned on a ground surface of a grocery store and arranged with a touch interactive display panel 2 for providing input regarding number of commodities to be packed along with storage location, multiple motorized wheels 4 move body 1, an extendable L-shaped vertical support 5 extends/retracts for positioning a cylindrical member 6 near storage location, multiple pair of motorized clamping units 7 are installed on member 6, at different heights on member 6 to grip an upper and lower portion of a bottle/packet stored at location, a motor positions clamping units 7 gripping bottle/packet a chamber for packaging commodities in chamber, a color sensor detects glass material of any of commodities, and a motorized gripper 8 grips glass commodities from storage location for eliminating any chances of breakage of commodities and placed in a container 9."
