According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated onion cleaning and processing device, comprising a housing 1 positioned on a fixed surface, a hopper 2 accessed by the user to accommodate onions, display panel 3 accessed by user to give inputs, first motorized iris lid 4 transfers the onion to V-shaped structure 5, multiple motorized air blowers 6 blows air on the onions to remove dust and debris, imaging unit 7 captures images of the onions to determine the position of the onion, motorized rotor 8 rotates to remove peel and roots of onion, a conveyor belt 9 accommodates dispensed onions from the structure, robotic gripper 11 grips and positions onion peels and roots on a waste chamber 12, color sensor detects rotten/damaged parts of the onion, telescopic rod 13 positions cutting blade 14 to cut rotten part, suction unit 15 withdraws peels towards waste chamber 12, outlet 17 accessed by user to collect cleaned onions."
