MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022838 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 23, 2024, for 'automated metal barrel dismantling device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated metal barrel dismantling device comprises of, a platform 1 developed to be positioned on a ground surface, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 mounted on the platform 1 to determine positioning of a metal barrel in proximity to the platform 1, a pair of robotic arms 3 installed on the platform 1 to acquire a grip on the barrel, a vertical support is mounted on the platform 1 and integrated with a horizontal bar for jacketing the barrel on the bar, a pair of motorized grippers arranged on end of the bar to acquire a grip on the jacketed barrel, a motorized grinding blade is arranged in proximity to the end of bar to rotate for cutting one end of the barrel while the barrel is being jacketed on the bar, a motorized roller installed on the bar over which the cut barrel is translated."
