MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541125283 A) filed by B V Raju Institute Of Technology, Narsapur, Telangana, on Dec. 11, 2025, for 'automated mental health assessment system through facial expression analysis using deep learning.'
Inventor(s) include Abdus Subhahan Dudekula; T Satish Babu; and V Punna Rao.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Facial Emotion Recognition (FER) has gained a lot of interest due to its potential uses and applications in various domains including human computer interaction, mental health monitoring, and improving patient care. This project aims to develop an accurate and efficient FER system utilizing the MobileNet architecture, which is known for its lightweight design and superior performance on mobile devices. By leveraging the custom dataset, which comprises a diverse range of facial expressions, our proposed model is trained to recognize and categorize emotions in real time. Unlike traditional algorithms that rely heavily on manual feature extraction and exhibit high computational costs, the MobileNet algorithm enables effective feature learning while maintaining low latency and resource consumption. The system also incorporates a logging mechanism to track emotion status over time, facilitating performance monitoring and improvement. The results demonstrate that our approach achieves enhanced accuracy and robustness, making it suitable for deployment in interactive applications."
