MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122089 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'automated marine life migration pattern recognition system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Kakelli Anil Kumar; Chakrabarti Shailee Chandan; and Arohi Mishra.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system for automated marine life migration pattern recognition. The system includes a video input module configured to receive underwater video footage containing marine organisms, an object detection module configured to detect marine organisms within video frames of the underwater video footage, a tracking module configured to track detected marine organisms across consecutive video frames by maintaining object identity of the detected marine organisms, a data processing module configured to extract quantitative migration data from the tracked marine organisms, and an output module configured to generate migration pattern data based on the quantitative migration data. The system enables automated analysis of marine species movement patterns through integration of computer vision technologies that process underwater video sequences to identify, track, and analyze marine organism behavior for migration studies and conservation applications."
