MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022356 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 22, 2024, for 'automated locking stand for bicycles.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated locking stand for bicycles, comprising a U-shaped frame 1 installed on crank portion of bicycle, a microphone 2 installed on the frame 1 to activate/deactivate the device by user's authentication code, a sliding unit 3 integrated on the frame 1 for translating a tube-like member 4 to deploy the member 4 at center portion of the frame 1, an imaging unit 5 installed on the frame 1 to determine distance of the surface from frame 1, hydraulically-operated rod 6 equipped with suction units 7 for getting adhered on the surface, a bar 8 integrated on the member 4 to position a robotic clipper 9 near the rim to hold and lock spokes, a pressure sensor for detecting pressure applied by an unauthorized user while trying to access the bicycle, a speaker 10 installed on the frame 1 to produce alerting audio signals regarding unauthorized access."
