MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411005549 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 27, 2024, for 'automated lipstick sharpening device.'

Inventor(s) include Meenakshi Bansal; Jaswinder Kaur; and Anamol Gautam.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated lipstick sharpening device comprises of a cuboidal shaped frame 1 developed to be installed on a fixed surface, an inlet 2 for enabling a user to insert a lipstick that user desires to sharp inside a ring 3, a pair of motorized clamps 4 for gripping a base of lipstick, a pair of motorized sliding unit 5 for providing movement to lipstick towards an opening 6 carved on a chamber 7, a telescopic pin 8 to position a blade 9 in proximity to lipstick inserted inside chamber 7, an imaging unit 10 for determining sharpness of lipstick's tip, a motorized slider 11 for providing rotational motion to lipstick in order to sharpen of lipstick, a weight sensor for detecting generation of lipstick remains on base of chamber 7 and a vacuum based cleaning unit 12 for cleaning residue that is further stored inside a receptacle 13."
