According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated knife refurbishing device, comprising of a housing 101 configured with multiple suction cups 102 for stability over a fixed surface, an input means to provide input specifications for sharpening knives, an adjustable inlet plate 105 mounted via a sliding unit 106, to receive broken knives and handles, an imaging unit 107 for determining presence and dimensions of the knife and handle, a handling means to acquire grip of the knife and handle, for positioning onto a platform 108, a joining module to provide calibrated heat onto the junction of the knife and handle, for melting metal materials, an air blower 117 to rapidly cool the joint for solidification of the melted material, a sharpening module to precisely sharpen knives' blunt edges, and a waste collection unit to extract waste generated during the joining and sharpening operations."
