MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441078339 A) filed by Jain, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Oct. 15, 2024, for 'automated jute plant fibrous bast removal device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated jute plant fibrous bast removal device, comprises a platform 1 configured with multiple motorized wheels 2 to maneuver the platform 1 over a ground surface, a telescopically operated rod 3 to stabilize the platform 1 over the surface, a semi-cylindrical shaped body 4 to accommodate multiple jute plants over, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 5, a motorized cutting unit 6 for cutting the detected waste parts, a robotic gripper 7 to grip and position the cut waste part of jute plants into a waste container 18, an electronic spout 8 for dispensing the water, plurality of curved-shaped extendable members 12 for receiving the jute plants upon completion of the retting process, slider crank arrangement 13 for providing linear reciprocatory movement to the first plate, plurality of motorized clamping unit 15, for positioning the separated bast of jute plant into a combing arrangement 16."
