MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024931 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'automated insect collection device.'
Inventor(s) include Shailendra Singh Rajput.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated insect collection device, comprising a housing 1 over a ground surface of an agricultural field via plurality of omnidirectional wheels 2 to provide translation to platform over the field, a display panel 3 to enable user to provide input regrading collection of specific insects from field, an imaging unit 4 determines presence of user-specified insects over plants, a motorized cylindrical shaft 5 via a pair of links 6, plurality of hard and soft flaps 7 via a motorized hinge joint 8 to deploy specific types of flaps 7 at a pre-defined angle, plurality of motorized rollers 10 wrapped with a string 11 that is connected with opposite the of frame 9 to modulate length of string 11 in order to regulate tension in the springs to allow the insects to hit the string 11 and fall into a chamber 12 arranged beneath the frame 9."
