Inventor(s) include Dr. Shaik Mazhar Hussain; S. Sri Chaitanya; D. Vanith; Md. Kaif; Dr. G. Prasanna Kumar; Dr T Srinivas Reddy; Dr M Nithin Varma; Dr. A. Pradeep Kumar; Dr N. Manikanda Devarajan; and Dr Jyothula Sunil Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "We provide a hybrid weed detection classification scheme for precision agriculture. The application incorporates traditional image processing, machine and depth learning algorithms such as the YOLOv8 for weed detection, decision-level fusion technique to merge parallel classifiers' outcomes. It is designed for secure on-line and offline deployment to provide powerful visual and textual outputs, in order to support sustainable weed management. The approach provides better detection accuracy and operational flexibility than previous single-model approaches such as the one described in US20240020971A1."
