MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631016764 A) filed by Jis College Of Engineering; and Aicte Idea Lab, Kalyani, West Bengal, on Feb. 16, for 'automated hybrid e-bicycle - a permanent solution for battery drain issues.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Partha Sarkar; Mr. Anirban Ghosal; Dr. Anirban Patra; Soham Dhar; Sayak Banerjee; Debajit Saha; and Jasmin Begum.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated hybrid energy-harvesting system for electric bicycles is disclosed, providing a self-sufficient power solution to overcome conventional battery-drain limitations. The system integrates a roof-mounted 24V solar panel and front-mounted wind turbines to capture solar and kinetic energy during stationary and mobile states. An intelligent hybrid charge controller manages the dual inputs, utilizing rectification and MPPT logic to stabilize power delivery to an onboard battery bank via a Battery Management System. This synergistic approach enables continuous charging, significantly extending the vehicle's operational range and reducing reliance on external electrical grids."
