MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004745 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 23, 2024, for 'automated gear maintenance device.'

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an automated gear maintenance device, comprising a platform 1 installed with a touch interactive display panel 2 accessed by user to provide details including brand and type of a gear which is to be maintained, a motorized chuck 3 installed on platform 1 accessed by user for accommodating gear, a sensing module attached on platform 1 for determining parameters including diameter, circumference, pitch circle diameter, addendum and dedendum of gear, a welding gun 5 installed on platform 1 via a telescopically operated L-shaped rod 6 to position gun 5 proximity to chuck 3, a robotic arm 7 installed on platform 1 for gripping a filler electrode and actuates a welding gun 5 to perform welding on gear for constructing gear's teeth or increasing distance between teeth to alter determined parameters to match determined parameters with standard parameters."
