MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411014280 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'automated fruit plucking device.'
Inventor(s) include Gagandeep Singh; Mandeep Singh; Avneet; Khushi; and Nakul.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated fruit plucking device comprises of a housing 1 positioned on a ground surface grown with fruit trees, multiple motorized omnidirectional wheels 2 for manoeuvring the housing 1 on the ground surface, plurality of motorized omnidirectional wheels 2 for manoeuvring the housing 1 on said ground surface for capturing multiple images of trees, a pair of semi-circular members 5 installed on said housing 1 via a pair of telescopically operated rods 6 to extend for horizontally aligning the members 5 with the fruit, a first motorized iris lid configured with one of the members 5 to open for allowing transfer of the fresh fruit via a primary conduit to a chamber 9 installed on the housing 1, a second motorized iris lid configured with the other member to open for allowing transfer of the rotten fruit via a secondary conduit to a vessel 10 installed on the housing 1."
