MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088288 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'automated fire extinguishing system for petrol pump stations.'
Inventor(s) include Shivam Pandey; and Merry K P.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated fire extinguishing system for petrol pump stations, comprises of plurality of artificial intelligence-based imaging units 1 associated with the system developed to be installed at different locations of a petrol pump station 2 for detecting occurrence of fires at the station 2, plurality of fire detection sensors installed at the station 2 for confirming occurrence of fire in premises of the station 2, plurality of hydraulically operated rods 3 configured with aluminum layer 6 installed at boundaries of the station 2 to get extended for preventing spread of fire across the boundaries and electronically controlled nozzle 5 integrated in each of the rods 3 by means of internal conduits and connected to a CO2 gas chamber 4 for releasing CO2 gas in surrounding to suppress and extinguish fire in the station 2 premises."
