MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020684 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 19, 2024, for 'automated eye examination assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an automated eye examination assistive device, comprising a spectacles-shaped frame 1 developed to be worn by a patient over eye during an eye examination, a microphone 2 installed on frame 1 for receiving voice command of a medical practitioner present in proximity to frame 1 regarding changing of different powered lenses on frame 1 to conduct eye examination, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 installed on frame 1 for determining location of a practitioner-specified lens in proximity to frame 1, a robotic arm 4 installed on frame 1 for gripping lens from determined location and position of gripped lens in eyepiece of frame 1, a sensing module installed on frame 1 for measuring parameters including corneo-retinal standing potential, spontaneous variation of pupil diameter and pupillary light reflex of patient's eyes."
